At least ten people have been killed in a fresh attack by gunmen at Kawuri, a farming community in Konduga Local Government, Borno.

A source from the community who asked not to be named told our correspondent that the victims were killed Monday morning at their farmland.

‘We heard the information this morning that not fewer than ten farmers were killed by unknown gunmen.

‘I cannot tell you if they were shot with guns or they were slaughtered but we have launched a search and rescue operation to evacuate the dead bodies,’ the source said.

According to the source, the Konduga community, especially from Alau Dam to the headquarters of the local government, has been facing a resurgence of security challenges, with gunmen threats, kidnapping, and robbery almost on a daily basis.

‘Farmers are now facing challenges to access their farmland, especially those from the deep forest,’ he added.

Details shortly…
