Yobe State Governor’s son, Abubakar Mai Mala Buni, made his professional football debut at Spanish Club, Lleida Club de Futbol.

The 18-year-old born talent described this debut as a dream come true in his football journey and a step towards reaching and playing for top clubs in Europe.

His first start in professional football came against Valencia B in a Segunda RFEF Group B fixture. The spoils were shared after a 2-2 draw, which saw Lleida sit 3 points below Valencia B, who sit 7th in the table.

Lleida’s Head Coach, Pere Marti, described Abubakar as a talent who can help the team in the remaining fixtures and hopefully get promoted to Segunda RFEF. Abubakar will play alongside fellow Nigerian player, Liameed Quadri, who joined Lleida last season.
