The Taraba State Government has secured a landmark investment approval worth $268.63 million (over ₦400 billion) from the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID) to finance transformative projects across the state.

The funds, facilitated through the Ministry of Energy and Economic Development, will be channeled into the establishment of a 10,000-hectare irrigated rice farm, a 16-tonne capacity Taraba-branded rice mill, an industrial park with agro-processing and logistics hubs, and a 50MW solar power plant.

Commissioner for Energy and Economic Development, Engr. Naomi Tanko Agbu, said the agreement is the culmination of months of rigorous consultations to align the projects with the state’s development priorities, which focus on security, infrastructure, industrialization, and investment.

She noted that Governor Agbu Kefas has remained steadfast in driving transformational projects despite challenges, adding that the deal reflects his commitment to reversing years of underdevelopment in the state.

Agbu expressed gratitude to EBID President and Chairman of the Board, Dr. George Agyekum Donkor, as well as board members and the project team, for their role in making the partnership a reality.

Calling for public support, she emphasized that the initiative is guided by the principle of collective progress and urged Tarabans to unite behind the governor’s vision.
