Hon. Kudla Satumari, popularly known as Haske, has formally launched his campaign for the Askira/Uba-Hawul federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives, beginning in Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State.
Speaking at a campaign rally, Haske said he was answering a call from the people. “The people called me, and I have heard them,” he told supporters. He declined to assess the performance of the incumbent representative, stating that constituents had already felt the impact of the current representation. He added that even a rival candidate from another party had been tested by the electorate, yet voters continued to urge him to contest.
Haske, who previously ran for the Borno South senatorial seat in two earlier election cycles, explained his decision to seek a seat in the House of Representatives instead.
He said he remained grateful for the progress he had made and attributed his decision to the direct demand of the people. “Both representatives and senators meet and work from the National Assembly,” he noted.
The campaign launch included the commissioning of new Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ward offices and a party headquarters in parts of the community.
On his way to the constituency, Haske stopped to greet residents in Bayo, Kwaya Kusar and Biu local government areas.
Abdullahi Musa, a resident of Bayo, said: “Haske is not seeking our votes this time around. The votes he needs are from the people of Askira/Uba and Hawul. But he stopped to greet us even when he is not seeking our votes.
This is the man I will devote my time and resources for.”
Another resident, Umar Alh Nasiru, added: “From God, Haske is next to me and my family. This is a man who took care of us and is still taking care of us even without power. Imagine if we vote him in – there will be massive transformation.”
At the gathering, Haske pledged to deliver transformation and development to the constituency if elected.
