The Troops of Sector 3, Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Operation Hadin Kai eliminated several Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists after it repelled an attack on the Monguno community in Borno State.

It was gathered that the ISWAP fighters on hilux trucks and motorcycles attacked the troops deployed along Marte Axis in Monguno on Saturday Aug 5, which resulted in a about 30 minutes heavy gun battle.

According to Zagazola Makama, the troops successfully repelled the attack, killing unspecified numbers of the terrorists, while others fled.

Sources said that various military equipment including hand grenades were recovered while one soldier was wounded from the incident.

Recall that ISWAP terrorists had vowed to carry out an attack on Monguno every two weeks following their defeat by the troops in Monguno.
