The Yobe State Government has announced a smooth transition in its administrative leadership, as Dr Mohammed Goje formally assumed office as Acting Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

The handover ceremony took place on Monday at the SSG Conference Room in the Governor’s Office, Damaturu, in the presence of senior government officials, including commissioners and permanent secretaries.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary, Administration and General Services, Alhaji Madu, who formally handed over the office, pledged the full support and cooperation of staff. He said the workforce remained committed to ensuring continuity and effective delivery of government priorities.

In his remarks, Dr Goje expressed appreciation to the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, for the confidence placed in him. He described his appointment as both an honour and a responsibility.

He said the Office of the SSG plays a central role in coordinating government policies and ensuring their implementation, describing it as the “engine room” of governance.

Dr Goje pledged to strengthen coordination across ministries, departments and agencies, improve accountability, and enhance service delivery to the people of Yobe State.

He also noted that the administration had recorded progress in key sectors, including security, infrastructure, education, healthcare and agriculture, adding that he would build on these achievements.

The new acting SSG paid tribute to his predecessor, Baba Mallam Wali, for his service and contributions to governance in the state, and said he would work to consolidate existing gains.

The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, advisers, family members and associates.
