Yobe State Government has paid the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO) fees for students in public schools across the state.
Secretary to the State Government Dr Mohammed Goje said the payment was made last week but has not yet been received by the examination bodies because of a technical problem.
Dr Goje said the issue was being addressed and that students should be able to access their WAEC and NECO results this week or next.
Officials said the payment was aimed at reducing the financial pressure on parents and ensuring eligible candidates could take the examinations.
The government described the move as part of the state government’s broader efforts to improve education. The 3.0 Spelling Bee, they added, is one of the initiatives supporting that goal.
