Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has announced that he will formally defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, marking a major political realignment in the state.

Speaking in Jalingo, Governor Kefas said his decision was driven by what he described as the “destiny and future” of Taraba, stressing that the move is not motivated by personal gain but by his conviction that the shift would position the state for greater development and unity.

“This is about Taraba’s destiny. My decision is anchored on what I believe will enhance growth, stability, and opportunities for our people,” the governor said.

Ahead of the defection ceremony, Governor Kefas inspected the Jolly Nyame Stadium—venue for the event—where he is expected to formally cross over to the APC alongside several members of the State Executive Council and newly elected Local Government Chairmen.

The rally is anticipated to draw a large crowd, including top political figures, supporters, and stakeholders from within and outside Taraba State.
