The Yobe State Government has dismissed as false reports alleging that 84 people were killed in a bandit attack in Mafa, Tarmuwa Local Government Area.

In a statement issued by the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, the government described the claim, published by some media outlets including Punch, as “unfounded, misleading, and completely untrue.”

Dr. Goje confirmed that no such attack or mass burial occurred in Mafa or anywhere in Tarmuwa LGA in 2025, urging the public to disregard the report.

He further appealed to residents and the media to rely only on verified updates from official state authorities and credible security sources.
