Kadafur Donates ₦5m at Rotary Club Maiduguri Investiture, Others Join with Generous Contributions

The Borno State Deputy Governor, Umar Kadafur, has pledged a donation of ₦5 million to support humanitarian and community development initiatives of the Rotary Club of Maiduguri.

Kadafur, represented by his Deputy Chief of Staff, Alhaji Haruna Tella, made the announcement during the investiture and fundraising dinner held at Pinnacle Hotel, Maiduguri, where Rotarian AbdulKareem Haruna was formally installed as the 3rd President of the Club.

Speaking on behalf of the Deputy Governor, Tella praised Rotary International’s role in promoting service, compassion, and selflessness, adding that the event was more than a social gathering but a “call to service, sacrifice, and community building.”

He congratulated the new President, AbdulKareem Haruna, describing his leadership as an opportunity to expand the Club’s impact in humanitarian service, education, youth empowerment, and community health.

Other dignitaries also made significant donations, Hon. Abdullahi Musa Askira, Deputy Speaker, Borno State House of Assembly – ₦1 million, Hon. Umar Lawan Dalorima, Commissioner of Finance – ₦1 million, Dr. Maina Yaumi, Executive Secretary, Education Trust Fund – ₦1 million, Abubakar Sadiq Muazu, CEO, CATAI Foundation – ₦500,000 and Several Permanent Secretaries, government officials, and private donors also contributed, including the Principal Private Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s office, Mohammed Adamu, who donated ₦200,000.

The evening also featured the presentation of awards of excellence to individuals and organisations for their outstanding service to humanity.

Kadafur, in his message, reaffirmed the state government’s readiness to partner with credible organisations such as Rotary to advance peacebuilding, literacy, and humanitarian initiatives, describing every donation as “an investment in humanity.”
