The Yobe State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly denied reports suggesting that its members are defecting to join a new political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released on Saturday, the State Chairman of the party, Umar El-Gash, described the rumors as false, baseless, and the handiwork of political adversaries bent on creating disunity within the party.
“The PDP in Yobe State is stronger today than it has been in recent times. The claim that our members are aligning with any coalition is not only unfounded but a desperate attempt to sow confusion,” El-Gash stated.
He assured members and supporters that the party’s structure remains intact—from the ward to the state level—and that no official has defected or entered into any alliance outside the PDP.
El-Gash also addressed concerns from party loyalists, noting that internal cohesion has improved significantly following the exit of individuals whose actions previously undermined the party’s progress.
“Their departure has given us the breathing room to rebuild, strategize, and strengthen our base,” he said.
The chairman reiterated that the Yobe PDP is fully focused on reclaiming power in the 2027 elections and will not be distracted by propaganda or political gimmicks.
“We remain committed, united, and more prepared than ever to present a credible alternative for the people of Yobe,” El-Gash concluded.
