PDP wins House of Representatives bye-election in Taraba

Engineer Sadiq Abbas Njiddah Tafida of the PDP son to the Emir of Muri has won the Jalingo-Yorro-Zing Federal Constituency bye-election in Taraba State.

Tafida polled 19,681 to defeat three other contestants, Innocent Jabayang of the SDP who got 16,379 votes, Aminu Malle of APC who scored 12,662 votes and Aminu Abdu Liman 3,646 votes.

Declaring the result after a rerun due to inconclusive of the bye-election conducted on February 3rd, 2024, the INEC Returning Officer Professor Olarenwaju Oladipo of the Federal University Wukari Taraba State described the election as peaceful, free and fair and thanked the electorate for the peacefully and mutually conducting themselves during the bye-election.

INEC declared the seat of the Jalingo-Yorro-Zing Federal Constituency seat vacant following the demise of Hon. Isma’il Yusha’u Maihanci who was elected on the platform of the PDP in the 2023 general election but died before his inauguration.
