The Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Police Command says its operatives attached to Utako Divisional Headquarters have arrested at least six suspected armed robbers.

A statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Josephine Adeh said the coordinated raid operation was carried out on Tuesday.

According to her, following credible information, the suspects were nabbed in an uncompleted hospital building hitherto marked as a black spot in the Utako village.

The suspects include one Basara Hassan, Daniel Charles, Adamu M Oshiaka, Chancy Asidi and Saliu Al Hassan, all from neighbouring states bordering the FCT.

The PPRO revealed that a locally made pistol, two live cartridges and wraps of substances suspected to be marijuana were recovered from the suspects.

According to her, further investigation on the recovered ammunition led to the arrest of another suspect, one Yusuf Iliyasu, an ex-convict and the syndicate leader.

“While investigation is ongoing, the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh wishes to assure residents of his unwavering commitment to make Abuja a hell for criminals and to ensure safety of all,” the statement added.
