Federal civil servants in Nigeria have begun receiving the ₦35,000 wage award for the month of September, following a promise by President Bola Tinubu in August.

The special support, which is said to be in an effort to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal, is to last for six months.

Civil servants who said they have received alerts for the payment have expressed their excitement.
