Military airstrikes conducted by the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly decimated scores of Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP)/Boko Haram terrorists following a sustained onslaught against the jihadists in the northeast region.

This was disclosed on Wednesday by a security analyst and a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, via Twitter.

He quoted sources as saying an intelligence-led aerial mission against identified terrorists hideouts was carried out on July 9 and 10, 2023, in Chikun, Gudu and Jibularam, Kwalaram, Arinna Ciki in Marte Local Government Area of Borno State where damage assessment from the scene confirmed the successful elimination of scores of fighters including some commanders who were yet to be identified.

“In continuation of intensive air raids, similar strikes were also undertaken at Talala in the axis of Sambisa forest after receiving intelligence of terrorists moving on seven motorcycles.

“The strikes were successful as at least six bodies of the eliminated terrorists were sighted after the clearance operations, ” he tweeted.

Makama also confirmed from a source that fighter jets belonging to the Nigerian Air Force were sighted conducting aggressive patrols around Afa, Kafa, Buk, Talala, Galmasaku, Chiralia and Ajigin.

Other areas include Wajiroko, Sabon Gari, Gogore, Doksa Buni Yadi and Buni Gari, after an intelligence report revealed the terrorists were moving in seven gun trucks and motorcycles.

Recall that, in recent times, aerial bombardments conducted by the Nigerian Air Force and aggressive clearance operations by ground troops have led to the annihilation of many unrepentant ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists within the northeast region.
