Suspected Boko Haram terrorists have launched a fresh attack on Kautikari, a community in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, late Thursday night, unleashing gunfire and setting houses ablaze.
According to local sources, the assault, which is still ongoing as of press time, has thrown the community into chaos, with residents fleeing for safety amid heavy shooting.
This incident marks the third attack in Chibok within four days. On Monday, insurgents invaded Pemi but were repelled by security forces, leaving at least 16 terrorists dead. They, however, burned down a church, cars, shops, and several homes. The following day, the group struck again in Shikarkir, razing buildings and reportedly abducting residents.
The latest siege on Kautikari has deepened fear among locals, many of whom say the renewed wave of attacks calls for urgent reinforcement of security presence in the area.
As of the time of filing this report, details of casualties or possible abductions remain unclear, and security agencies are yet to issue an official statement.
