Kannywood Mourns as Veteran Actor Malam Nata’ala Dies After Long Illness

Kannywood has lost one of its beloved actors, Mato Na Mato, popularly known as Malam Nata’ala, following a prolonged illness.

A native of Potiskum in Yobe State, Malam Nata’ala was widely celebrated for his iconic role as an almajiri school teacher in the popular Arewa24 Hausa drama series Dadin Kowa.

Before his death, the actor had publicly appealed for financial assistance to cover his medical expenses. His plea drew attention across West Africa, prompting Niger Republic’s President, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, to offer ₦27 million in support.

Fans and colleagues have taken to social media to mourn the veteran actor, describing his death as a great loss to the Hausa film industry and the cultural heritage of Northern Nigeria.
