Teen Cigarette Hawker Stabbed to Death in Takum Over Payment Dispute

Tragedy struck Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State on Sunday evening when a teenage cigarette hawker was fatally stabbed following an argument with a customer.

The incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. near Danji Hotel along Wukari Junction. Eyewitnesses said the victim, identified as Sani, a Hausa boy under the age of 18, was attacked after demanding payment for cigarettes from a customer.

According to accounts, the suspect, reported to be a Fulani man, refused to pay for cigarettes he had taken and, in the ensuing confrontation, allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Sani in the chest.

Bystanders quickly rushed Sani to a nearby hospital, but doctors confirmed he was dead on arrival.

Outraged residents pursued the suspect, apprehended him, and handed him over to the police for investigation.

The tragic death has thrown the Takum community into mourning, with residents calling for swift justice.
