Barely weeks after three girls from Yobe State made headlines by winning the TeenEagle International English Competition in London, the state is celebrating another remarkable academic achievement.

Tijjani Isa Kalallawa, a native of Kalallawa village in Yobe State, has graduated with First Class Honours in Petroleum Engineering from Bayero University, Kano (BUK), setting a new benchmark for academic excellence in the state.

Kalallawa’s achievement is particularly inspiring given the educational challenges faced by many in the North-East. His journey from a rural community to the top of his class in one of Nigeria’s most competitive engineering disciplines reflects resilience, discipline, and an unyielding commitment to success.

Stakeholders in Yobe have lauded Kalallawa’s accomplishment, describing it as a symbol of hope for the state’s youth. “This is proof that Yobe’s children, given the right opportunities, can compete and excel anywhere in the world,” said a government official

Governor Mai Mala Buni is expected to officially commend Tijjani, as he did with the TeenEagle champions, in recognition of their roles in projecting Yobe State positively on the national and global stage.

With these successive victories, from the international competition in London to the academic distinction in Kano, Yobe is fast building a reputation for producing young achievers who defy the odds to stand tall among their peers.
