The Yobe State Government, in collaboration with key United Nations agencies, has launched a Strategic Onboarding Workshop for members of the State Policy Advisory Committee on Durable Solutions, marking a major step in implementing the Yobe State Action Plan on Internal Displacement.

The workshop, supported by the Internal Displacement Solutions Fund (IDSF), brings together high-level policymakers from 17 ministries, security agencies, traditional institutions, civil society, and IDP leadership. It aims to equip participants with the tools and strategies needed to deliver sustainable, locally driven interventions for internally displaced persons (IDPs).

Declaring the event open, Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, urged stakeholders to rally around the plan as a priority under Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration. He called for solution-focused approaches, closing capacity gaps, and leveraging IDSF support for sustainable impact.

The session featured key presentations from technical working groups (TWGs) and contributions from commissioners, emphasising cross-ministry coordination, budgetary provisions for solutions-focused projects, and timely delivery of services.

Representatives of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), International Organization for Migration (IOM), UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), UNICEF, UN Mine Action Service (UNMAS), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), NEMA, and the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) were present alongside security officials and community leaders.

The initiative reinforces Yobe’s commitment to fostering resilience, recovery, and long-term development for communities affected by conflict and displacement.
