The Yobe State Police Command has rescued a two-year-old boy and arrested a suspected member of a kidnapping syndicate in a swift operation that spanned two states.

The victim, identified as Abdulkareem Mohammed, was abducted on July 31, 2025, in Potiskum. His father, Mohammed Ishayaku, later received a ransom demand of ₦2 million from the kidnappers.

Acting on intelligence, police operatives traced the suspect, Abdullahi Aliyu, 24, to Kakuri, Kaduna State, where he was arrested. Investigations revealed that Aliyu had allegedly been involved in similar abduction cases in other states.

Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, praised the swift response and professionalism of the officers involved. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents.

“This operation is a testament to our resolve to protect citizens and bring criminals to justice,” CP Ado said. He also urged parents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity or incidents promptly to the nearest police station.

The rescued child has since been reunited with his family, while the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.

The Yobe State Police Command assured residents that it will sustain efforts to curb crime and safeguard communities across the state.
