Yobe Teen Shines Globally, Defeats 69 Countries to Win English Championship in London

Seventeen-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu from Yobe State has brought international acclaim to Nigeria by emerging as the global champion at the 2025 TeenEagle English Language Competition held in London, United Kingdom.

Representing Nigeria through Nigerian Tulip International College (NTIC), Nafisa outperformed over 20,000 students from 69 countries, including participants from native English-speaking nations, demonstrating exceptional command of English language skills and communication.

The TeenEagle Global Finals assess participants’ proficiency across a wide range of language applications, making Nafisa’s triumph a landmark achievement for Nigerian education and youth potential on the world stage.

According to a statement issued by Hassan Salifu, head of the Aminu family, Nafisa’s success was the result of “discipline, dedication, and the unwavering support of the Yobe State government.”

“Our daughter’s outstanding performance would not have been possible without the visionary commitment of His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose investment in education has elevated not only our state but the nation as a whole,” the statement read.

The Aminu family also expressed deep appreciation to the management and staff of NTIC, Yobe, for maintaining high academic standards and nurturing students to achieve global excellence.

They further called on both the state and federal governments to formally recognize Nafisa’s extraordinary feat, describing it as proof that Nigerian students can compete and win on the global stage when provided with a conducive learning environment and adequate support
