First Lady Remi Tinubu, Gov. Buni, Others to Receive Honorary Doctorates at Yobe Varsity Convocation

First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, and four other eminent Nigerians are set to receive honorary doctorate degrees during the maiden convocation ceremony of the Federal University Gashua (FUG) on Saturday.

The announcement was made by the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Maimuna Waziri, during a press briefing held on campus.

She explained that the awards are in recognition of the recipients’ outstanding contributions to national development across various sectors.

According to the Vice-Chancellor:

Senator Oluremi Tinubu will be conferred with a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt).

Governor Mai Mala Buni and Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam, will each receive Doctor of Public Administration (DPA) degrees.

Former Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, will be honored with a Doctor of Science (D.Sc).

Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad will also receive a Doctor of Letters (D.Litt), while Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji will be awarded a Doctor of Public Administration (DPA).

Professor Waziri also disclosed that since its inception, the university has successfully graduated six sets of students, totaling 3,449 graduates across four faculties: Agriculture, Arts, Management and Social Sciences, and Science.

The convocation ceremony marks a significant milestone in FUG’s journey as a center of academic excellence in the northeastern region of Nigeria
