A fire incident has rocked the Giwa Barracks armory in Maiduguri, causing heavy sounds suspected to be explosions that sent shockwaves through the area.

The sounds, which started around 11:40 PM, prompted residents, mainly women and children, to flee for safety.

Residents from various areas, including Fori, Barrack, and Galtimari, were seen fleeing their homes in search of safety.

A source confirmed to this paper that the heavy sounds were indeed due to a fire outbreak at Giwa Barracks.

However, the cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed.

Further details will be provided as more information becomes available.
