Police disburses N60.5m to fallen officers’ families in Borno

Borno State Police Command has presented cheques worth N60.5 million to families of fallen and injured officers.

ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, spokesman of the command said the disbursement was part of the Group Life Assurance Benefits and Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Schemes.

According to him, the scheme was designed by IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Polce to support families of deceased officers and those injured in the line of duty.

The presentation ceremony of the cheques totaling N60,507,444.17 took place at the Command State Headquarters in Maiduguri.

CP ML Yusufu, the Commissioner of Police who was represented by DCP A.M Bello, his deputy, presented the cheques to 34 beneficiaries, including the next of kin, families of police officers who lost their lives while serving and those who sustained injuries while carrying out their duties.

DCP Bello expressed gratitude to the IGP for the initiative and urged the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely for their well-being.

Mrs. Jagila Bitrus, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the IGP and the police management for their support during her sister’s passing and pledged to use the money responsibly.
