Taraba State Pensioners have unanimously passed “a vote of no confidence” on the State Secretary of the Union Mr. Paul A Tyav and removed him from office with immediate effect.

In a letter signed by the branch chairmen of the union in the sixteen local government areas of the State, the pensioners said the current vote of no confidence on the State Secretary was first based on the report of a committee set up by the State Council of the NUP last year to dialogue with retired Permanent Secretaries.

The Union said “the State Secretary is always reversing the hand of the clock backward for pensioners by conducting all affairs of the Union in secrecy denying other officials of the Union from performing their statutory responsibilities, the Secretary is in custody of all financial documents and records including cheeques, denying the State treasurer who is supposed to handle all financial matters, hence once he is not around all activities of the Union in Taraba State stand still.”

“Members of the Union further noted that the Mr Tyav is running a one man show regarding all members of the Union in the State as slaves who do not even know anything about the Union, any issue not initiated by him will not see the light of the day thereby frustrating all the efforts of officials of the union in the state which will no longer be condone.”

The Pensioners observed that the postures of disrespect to constituted Authorities, Senior officials of government and pension administrators in the State by Mr Tyav has made the payment of entitlements of pensioners very difficult

More worrisome, the Pensioners lamented that Mr. Tyav has over stayed in office for eighteen consecutive years and he is not an indigene of Taraba State.

They further advised the National Headquarters of the NUP in Abuja not to make the mistake of extending the tenure of the NUP Caretaker Committee Constituted in Taraba State adding that election must hold on December 5th, 2023 as scheduled vowing to stop the 1% being deducted as dues from their monthly pensions which the National Headquarters gets the lion share of 45% without them getting anything from the National Headquarters since the creation of Taraba State.

The Notification letter for the vote of no confidence by the Pensioners in Taraba State was copied to the State Head of Civil Service and all Security Agencies in Taraba State.
