As part of a plan to improve healthcare service delivery, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni approved the recruitment of 158 community nursing graduates of Dr. Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery, Damaturu.
This information was revealed in a statement issued to the Governor, Mamman Mohammed, on Saturday by the Director General of Press and Media Affairs.
The newly recruited health professionals, according to the release, are alumni of the college two sets of community nursing programs.
“Similarly, Governor Buni has approved the payment of N10,000 monthly allowance to 393 students of Yobe State origin undergoing National Diploma and Basic Midwifery programmes at the Shehu Sule College of Nursing and Midwifery.
“The approval indicates that 67 of the benefitting students are also entitled to 11 months arrears of the allowance”, the statement added.
Buni prompted the newly hired medical staff to be committed to providing better care for the public.
Additionally, he ordered them to participate in the State government’s reform initiative so that everyone can get effective, easily accessible, and reasonably priced medical care.
The governor urged students to work hard in their studies in order to repay the government’s investment in them.
