Yobe State scholarship beneficiary and Nigerian Tulip International Colleges alumna, Rabiatu Adamu Saleh, has sponsored Nursing and Midwifery Council examination fees for 20 nurses drawn from the state’s 17 local government areas
The selected 17 females were based on needs, while the 3 are merit based.
Dr Saleh, who benefited from the state scholarship scheme from her secondary education at Nigerian Tulip International Colleges through to her doctoral studies at Nile University of Nigeria, said the initiative was her way of giving back to society and expressing appreciation to the state government for supporting her academic journey.
She said the sponsorship was targeted specifically at female candidates as part of efforts to promote gender equity and expand opportunities for women in Yobe State.
According to Dr Saleh, many women face social and economic barriers that limit access to educational and professional advancement, despite their potential to contribute meaningfully to society.
She added that supporting women to attain higher professional qualifications would not only strengthen the healthcare sector, but also enhance problem solving and community development across the state.
