A 50-year-old man, Modu Isa, has been rescued in Bama, Borno State, after attempting to take his own life in a shocking act of self-harm.

The incident, which occurred on Friday evening in Hausari Ward, was confirmed by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on his X handle.

Community members said Isa stabbed himself three times in the stomach before cutting off his genitals with a knife. Witnesses attributed the act to a domestic dispute after his former wife, Bayanxe Modu of Konduga, whom he had divorced three times, allegedly refused to return to his home.

Police operatives on patrol were alerted to the scene, recovered the knife as evidence, and evacuated the victim to General Hospital, Bama, where medical officials confirmed he is responding to treatment.

Security sources disclosed that the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Maiduguri for further investigation.
