Tragedy in Bauchi as 24-Year-Old Man Allegedly Kills 80-Year-Old Father

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested a 24-year-old man, Liman Muhammad Baba, for allegedly killing his 80-year-old father, Malam Baba Siti, following a heated altercation in Uzum village, Giade Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, sending shockwaves through the rural community.

Spokesperson for the Command, SP Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the tragic development during a media briefing. He disclosed that officers from the Giade Division responded to a distress call from a concerned resident, prompting the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Sani Omolori, to order a swift and discreet investigation.

“Detectives arrived at the scene to find the elderly victim lying in a pool of blood. Preliminary findings suggest the suspect struck his father on the head with a stick, leading to his collapse and instant death,” Wakil stated.

The victim was immediately rushed to the General Hospital in Giade, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival.

According to reports, the fatal altercation escalated into violence, culminating in the alleged attack. The suspect, Liman Muhammad Baba, was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody.

SP Wakil affirmed that a thorough investigation is underway and that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

The police urged members of the public to resolve disputes peacefully and avoid resorting to violence, especially within families.
