Economic hardship: Zulum shares relief items to Bama residents

Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, the Governor of Borno has supervised the distribution of food and non-food items to the residents of Bama.

He supervised the exercises on Sunday during a visit to the local government.

According to him, the effort was to alleviate hardships and support livelihood restorations.

‘The effort we are making is to alleviate the hardship faced by the people and to cope with the current situation in the country.

‘While addressing the needs of the community, we are here to distribute a relief of food and non-food items to the vulnerable resident in the Bama.

The distribution was for 45, 000 vulnerable women, who were given cash and clothing.

A total of number of 25,000 vulnerable men received 25kg of rice and maize each.

‘This is not exclusive to Bama alone; we’ve been providing such palliatives across various LGAs since 2015 to date’.

In a commitment to further tackle the challenges, Zulum shared his plans upon return to Maiduguri, to engage with stakeholders in the food industry, major dealers, and all essential item vendors.

He said the goal is to explore avenues for reducing the prices of both food and non-food items, as well as address the economic impact on the residents.
