Taraba State Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation Barrister Zainab Usman Jalingo has received hundreds of decampees from the APC and the ANPP at her residence in Majidadi ward Jalingo which came on the heels of the bye-election for Jalingo-Yorro-Zing Federal constituency in Taraba State.
Receiving the decampees, the Commissioner expressed the ardent need for unity and lauded the defectors for their courage and foresight in aligning themselves with the PDP.
She also expressed the need for collective actions in enhancing the welfare of the constituents and fostering progress and showed gratitude to the defectors for putting tents with the ruling Party in the State.
Stalwarts of the PDP at the occasion Aminu Jika, former Commissioner and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hussain Ibrahim, a former Speaker Taraba State House of Assembly and Hussain Umar Lester a former Chairman Jalingo Local Government added their voices and commended the decampees for taking the bull by the horn and making a good decision that will no doubt enhance the chances of the party in all elections in the State.
The Stakeholders pledged their unalloyed support to the Party and to ensure the continued success of the PDP in Taraba State reaffirming their commitments in advancing the interest of the people and championing progressive policies.
Spokesman of the decampees Alhaji Gomna lbrahim Jalingo explained that because of lack of internal democracy, total absence of inclusiveness at all levels in the affairs of their parties and non cooperation of the Leadership of the parties with their supporters on issues of development of the Parties, they unanimously decided in their own interest to withdraw their membership of their previous respective parties to join the all-inclusive Party of the PDP and the Government of ‘Moving Forward’ with Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas steering the wheels.
The influx of supporters from the APC and NNPP to the PDP highlights the evolving dynamics within the political landscape of Taraba State which continues to evolve and serves as a testament to the growing influence and appeal of the Party which has been in Government in Taraba State since the returned of democracy in 1999.
