Yobe State Governor, Gov. Mai Mala Buni present the state 2022 budget which was theme the Budget of Continuity, Consolidation and Economic Transformation.
While making the presentation Buni stated that this year’s budget has the total of 163,155,366,000 for presentation to the state House of Assembly for consideration for the 2023 fiscal year.
Buni said, “the total budget for the execution of their policies and programmes is put at One Hundred and Sixty-three Billion, One Hundred and Fifty-five Million, Three Hundred and Sixty-six Thousand Naira (N163,155,366,000) signifying a 0.49% decrease compared to the 2022 budget. Recurrent expenditure is to gulp Eighty-seven Billion, Eight Hundred Million, Seven Hundred and Seventeen Thousand Naira (N87,800,717,000) representing 57%.”
“The sum of Seventy-five Billion, Three Hundred and Fifty-four Million, Six Hundred and Forty-nine Thousand Naira (N75,354,649,000) representing 43% is earmarked for capital expenditure. Our sources for financing the budget are submitted in the details of Appropriation and Finance Bills”
He said, “To realize this vital objective, funds would be made available for the construction, completion and rehabilitation of Damaturu-Kalallawa-Gabai, Bulanguwa-Kumagannam, Fika-Maluri, Danchuwa – Garin Abba – Garin Bingel, Kukuri-Dawasa-Chukuriwa, Machina-Dole-Machina.”
“Others include : Chumbusko-Tagali, Nguru-Bulanguwa, Dogon Kuka-Daura, Ngelzarma-Ngelshengele, Tetteba-Gulani, Maisandari-Gambir, Girgir-Karage, Tikau-Jajere, Fadawa-Daya, Bara-Njibulwa, Babbangida-Koriyel, Afunori-Mirwa-Majakura-Bombori, Gashua-Dumburi-Masaba-Dadigar, Geidam-Damakarwa and Bukarti-Toshia roads”.
Mai Mala said, “In the education sub-sector, we propose to sustain our gains in our basic and secondary education revitalization initiatives. The State Government would adopt deliberate measures and initiatives to promote girlishild education in the State”.
He said, “Accordingly, seven Government Girls Day Senior Secondary Schools (GGDSSS) would be established in Damaturu, Buni-Yadi, Geidam, Gashua, Sabon Garin Nangere, Nguru and Potiskum while renovation work would be carried out at Government Secondary School Damaturu, Government Girls College, Buni-Yadi, Government Girls College, Damaturu, Government Secondary School, Kukar Gadu, Government Girls Secondary School Ngelzarma, Government Science Technical College Damagum, Government Girls Secondary School Gadaka, Government Day Secondary School Gashua, Government Girls Science and Technical College Potiskum and Higher Islamic College, Nguru”.
