A Federal High Court in Damaturu, Yobe State, has fixed September 28, 2022, for judgement in a suit filed by winner of the May 28 All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election of Yobe North, Bashir Sheriff Machina, against the party, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Ahmad Lawan.

Recall that Justice Fadima Aminu on 12th September 2022 had reserved judgement on the senatorial ticket tussle after she heard arguments between counsel to the plaintiff as well as that of the defendants.

Hussain Mohammed Isa, the spokesman for Machina Campaign Organization, confirmed the development in a post via his verified Facebook page.

“A Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu has fixed September 28 for judgement in a suit filed by winner of the May 28th APC senatorial primary election of Yobe North, Bashir Sheriff Machina against APC, INEC and Ahmad Lawan”, he posted.

Machina, who participated and won the APC senatorial primary election for Yobe North, but his name was changed, is asking the court to declare him authentic senatorial flag bearer of the party for the 2023 election, hence this request will be determined on Wednesday by the court in Damaturu.

The primary election for the Yobe North senatorial seat was conducted on the 28th of May, 2022.
