In a major step toward improving electricity distribution across Taraba State, Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has commissioned a set of high-capacity electricity transformers aimed at strengthening the state’s power infrastructure.

The commissioning ceremony took place at the Ministry of Power and Economic Development headquarters in Jalingo, the state capital. Speaking at the event, Governor Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transforming the energy sector for reliable and equitable power supply across all regions of the state.

“We are taking decisive action to address energy challenges in Taraba. These transformers are part of a broader strategy to ensure that every part of the state has access to stable electricity,” the governor stated. He also emphasized the importance of using electrical equipment responsibly, especially as infrastructure expands.

Governor Kefas expressed optimism that Taraba will soon host a functional hydroelectric power plant, which he said would significantly enhance energy sufficiency and drive economic growth in the region.

Also speaking at the event, the Commissioner for Energy and Economic Development, Engineer Naomi Agbu, highlighted the impact the new transformers will have on residents.

“These installations are a game-changer. They will help alleviate long-standing electricity issues in many communities and improve overall quality of life,” she noted.

The initiative is part of the administration’s broader plan to modernize the state’s infrastructure and promote sustainable development.
