The Yobe State Government, in partnership with the Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Centre of Excellence (SPESSCE) at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), has concluded a five-day capacity building and certification workshop for personnel of the SOLID and AGILE projects.

The training, held in Bauchi, focused on equipping participants with advanced skills in project management, procurement, environmental safeguards, and social standards—critical areas for ensuring transparent and sustainable project implementation.

In his closing remarks, SPESSCE Centre Leader and ATBU Vice Chancellor, Professor Ibrahim Garba Hassan, praised participants for their active engagement and commended the Yobe Government for prioritizing institutional capacity in line with World Bank protocols and global best practices.

Speaking on behalf of the participants, Yobe SOLID Project Coordinator, Mr. Suleiman Dauda, described the training as “strategic and essential,” while commending Governor Mai Mala Buni for his reform-driven leadership and commitment to project excellence across the state.

Over the course of the workshop, attendees completed 17 in-depth modules on topics including procurement, project management, gender inclusion, and lessons from global project implementation experiences.

The sessions were led by a team of experts including Prof. Nuruddeen Usman, Dr. Nafiu Abdullahi Zadawa, Dr. Jibrin Mohammed, Dr. Aishatu Bala Hassan, and Bukar Usman.

Participants praised the workshop as transformative and directly applicable to their roles. The training concluded with the award of certificates to all participants, reinforcing Yobe State’s commitment to professional excellence and sustainable development.
