President Tinubu suspends fuel subsidy regime

Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Nigeria’s recently sworn-in president, has eliminated gasoline subsidies, claiming they are no longer viable.

He issued the order while addressing Nigerians in his inaugural address at Eagle Square in Abuja.

“On fuel subsidy, the budget I met before I assumed office and what I heard is that there is no provision for subsidy.

“Fuel subsidy is gone,” he simply stated.
