The Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday, remanded a couple, Ajoke, 34, and Jide Akinropo, 40.

The duo, arraigned for allegedly causing the death of a 45-year-old man, Olapade, were sent to the Abolongo Correctional facility in Oyo town.

The police charged the husband and wife with conspiracy and murder, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

The Chief Magistrate, Mr E. A. Idowu, did not take their plea and adjourned the matter until May 30, for mention.

The Magistrate ordered that they be remanded pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The prosecution counsel, Insp Femi Oluwadare, informed the court that the couple allegedly conspired to commit the offence.

The police officer said on April 25, at about 7 a.m. at the Zion Oje area of Ibadan, the couple beat Olapade to death.

The offence violated Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 and 324 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
