Security has been beefed up at the Adamawa State collation centre as officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reconvene days after the commission suspended the exercise.

The Administrative Secretary of the commission in Adamawa, Adamu Gujungu, who has been mandated to replace the erring Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Yunusa Ari, was seen at the collation centre.

According to Channels Television, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, is expected at the collation centre.

Recall that the electoral umpire had on Sunday suspended collation for the Saturday supplementary governorship election in the state, following which Ari announced Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the election over the incumbent, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
