Former Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, arrived in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, on Saturday to a large by supporters, as he begins consultations ahead of a potential bid for the 2027 governorship election.

The former minister touched down at Danbaba Suntai Airport at about 3:30 p.m., where he was received by a sizeable crowd of supporters. The reception quickly transformed into a motorcade procession through major streets of the city, culminating at his campaign office along Barde Way, with supporters chanting slogans and expressing optimism about his candidacy.

His arrival has sparked renewed political conversations across the state, with supporters projecting him as a strong contender in the 2027 governorship race.

Addressing supporters at his campaign office, Mamman called for unity and a shift in political consciousness, urging citizens to prioritise development-oriented leadership.

“Since the creation of Taraba State in 1991, we are yet to achieve the level of development our people deserve. We must collectively work towards progress and improved governance,” he said.

He noted that his visit was primarily for consultations with stakeholders and citizens to chart a viable path toward what he described as sustainable development for the state.

Speaking to journalists, Mamman expressed confidence in his credentials, stating that his focus remains on addressing key challenges such as infrastructure, education, security, and economic development.

“I am here because the people invited me. This is about listening, consulting, and finding the best way to move Taraba forward,” he said.

He urged voters to make informed choices in the 2027 elections based on competence and vision rather than ethnic or religious considerations, stressing the need for issue-based politics.

Mamman also pledged to accept the outcome of the election, provided it is free, fair, and credible.
