Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has urged residents of the state to celebrate the Christmas season with joy, responsibility and a renewed commitment to peace, unity and safety.
In his Christmas message to the people of Taraba State, the governor described the festive period as a time for reflection on the values of love, sacrifice, hope and peace, calling on citizens to strengthen bonds of unity within their families and communities.
Governor Kefas cautioned against reckless celebrations, stressing that festivities should not come at the expense of lives or public order.
He advised residents to remain safety-conscious on roads, in homes, markets, places of worship and other public spaces, noting that the protection of lives must remain a top priority throughout the celebrations.
“Security remains a key priority of this administration,” the governor said, adding that security agencies have been fully deployed across the state and are working closely with community leaders, traditional institutions and local vigilance groups to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free festive period.
Governor Kefas called on citizens to cooperate with security agencies by obeying the law, remaining vigilant and promptly reporting any suspicious activities.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, creating opportunities for prosperity and sustaining Taraba State as a peaceful environment where residents can live, work, worship and conduct their businesses without fear.
The governor also encouraged residents to use the Christmas season to promote forgiveness, reconciliation and compassion, urging them to support the vulnerable and extend kindness to one another irrespective of tribe, religion or social status, noting that peace is a shared responsibility that must be upheld collectively.
