The Yobe State Hisbah Commission has destroyed several cartons of alcohol seized during a recent enforcement operation in Gashu’a, in line with its mandate to uphold moral standards and Shari’ah compliance in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Commission’s Spokesman, Sibawaihi Ukasha Gashu’a, who confirmed that the destruction exercise was carried out following a court order granted by the Lower Shari’ah Court.
According to the statement, the seized items were intercepted on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from a J5 vehicle that departed from Jos, Plateau State. Both the suspects and the confiscated goods were subsequently charged to court, where the judgment was delivered in accordance with Shari’ah law.
“The court authorized the destruction of the seized alcohol, which was executed under the supervision of the Hisbah Commission,” Ukasha stated.
The Yobe Hisbah Commission reiterated its commitment to intensifying operations aimed at curbing immoral behavior and promoting a disciplined, morally upright society.
