Borno state Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has announced a donation of N300 million to support families of soldiers who lost their lives in the fight against Boko Haram insurgents.

The governor made the announcement in N’Djamena, Chad, during the 2025 Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) Operation Desert Sanity 2 Medal Parade.

The donation will be channeled through the “Tribute to Our Troops Charity Foundation,” an initiative established by the Chief of Defence Staff to support the families of deceased and injured soldiers.

Speaking at the event, Zulum emphasized the need to honor the sacrifices made by the military in protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity. “These brave men paid the ultimate price for our safety. Supporting their families is the least we can do to acknowledge their sacrifices. If any state should contribute to this foundation, it is Borno,” he said.

The governor noted that the insurgency in the North East has significantly declined but urged the military to intensify efforts to eliminate the remnants of Boko Haram elements, particularly in the Lake Chad region.
