College of Education Zing holds combine Convocation as 19,700 graduate

The Taraba State college of Education Zing held a combined convocation ceremony, graduated 19700 graduands after twenty years.

Speaking at the occasion, the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas who visited the College again reiterated the commitment of his administration to a sound educational reform agenda that seeks to build a future  where quality education is accessible, and affordable.

Kefas described the occasion as a remarkable achievement in the life of all graduands, from 1994 to 2024 spanning a period of twenty years.

The Governor emphasized that true wealth. is not only the natural resources and economic growth potentials of the State but also encompasses the intellectual and creative ability of the people.

“Education remains the cornerstone of my Administration’s Development Agenda, which is why my Government declared Free and Compulsory Education in Primary and Secondary Schools throughout the State” Kefas said.

He remarked that Convocation ceremony demonstrates the transformative power of Education adding that henceforth, convocation must be held annually in all tertiary institutions within the State.

He stated that he would uphold the principles of fairness, prevent sabotage, and prioritize merit-based decision-making over political agendas.

Gov. Kefas stated that the College of Education – Zing is the statewide hub for teacher training and commended the College leadership for their unrelenting pursuit of educational excellence, highlighting education’s role in empowering youth and fostering a community centered on growth, inclusivity, and integrity.

 The Governor urged the graduands to be good ambassadors of the College and the State and warmly congratulated the them on their achievements, praising their tireless efforts and resilience.

He said as they move forward they Should  cultivate a service-oriented mindset, acknowledging that true fulfillment stems from making a positive difference in the lives of others, beyond mere personal attainment.

Kefas revealed that his administration is advancing initiatives for economic development, empowerment, and sustainability, emphasizing the crucial role graduates could play in achieving this vision.

The Provost of the College, Prof. Ejika Sambo said about 19,700 graduands bagged NCE and Commended Governor Agbu Kefas for his historic attendance at the ceremony, underscoring the significance of the College in achieving his free education initiatives.

Speaking on behalf of the graduands, Taraba State NUJ Chairman, Mr. Matthew Eluid Jen, acknowledged the significant contributions of the College to their development.

 Highlights of the convocation include the commissioning of a CBT hall named after the Governor.

The Governor earlier paid homage to HRH the Kpanti Zing Alhaji Suleiman Ibrahim Sambo at his Palace in Zing.
