0

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress APC Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed that he will not retire from partisan politics until he becomes President of Nigeria.

Tinubu who made the vow during his campaign visit to Benue State on Tuesday ahead of the APC’s primaries slated to hold this Friday, said if elected, he would bring his wealth of experience to bear on the governance of the country.

“I won’t retire from politics until I am the president of Nigeria. I will bring the experience of my leadership in Lagos state as a Governor to bare on my leadership style in Nigeria.

The former Lagos State Governor who insisted that he is the best man for the job said if he emerges as the Presidential candidate of the APC, he will surely win the presidential election no matter whoever emerges as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party PDP.

“There’s no contest between me and whoever will emerge as the candidate of opposition PDP,” he stated.

The APC National Leader assured that if and when elected as president of the country, he would run a transparent and open government.

“I guarantee you that I will run a transparent, open government. Nigeria is rich. What we need is to redirect our resources and channel them in the right direction,” he said.

Earlier in a remark, Sen Kashim Shettima while extolling the virtues of Sen JS Tarka as leader and emancipator of the minority interest groups in Nigeria, insisted that Asiwaju Tinubu is the right person to take Nigeria to the promised land.

Death Toll Rises To Nine In Kano Explosion

Death toll in Tuesday’s explosion at Aba Road, Sabon Gari area of Kano State has hit nine, emergency officials have said.

A massive explosion rocked the area on Tuesday morning with many initially thinking it was a bomb attack. School children were seen drenched in blood.

The police had earlier confirmed four people dead but the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), said the death toll had reached nine.

NEMA’s spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, in a statement said nine bodies have been recovered so far from the rubbles of a collapsed building beside a primary school following explosions from gas cylinder at Aba Road in Sabon Gari area of Kano.

Director-General National Emergency Management Agency, Mustapha Habib Ahmed, was at the site of the incident and coordinated the rescue operations.

“He mobilised excavators being used for the rescue operations and said NEMA team will ensure complete removal of the rubbles to retrieve all trapped persons,” he said.

Ezekiel added that the DG instructed the NEMA rescue team to remain at the site until conclusion of the rescue and to work together with security agencies and other response organisations present at the location.

He said NEMA was presently coordinating the rescue operations involving members, Nigerian Red Cross, military, the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Kano SEMA.

Tinubu To Dump APC For SDP

0

Former Lagos state governor and Presidential hopeful on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bola Tinubu has concluded plans to dump the ruling party, if the May 30 primaries are schemed against him, an associate of the former Lagos state government has said.

The associate who spoke on the condition of anonymity told Vanguard that the development was the reason former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal stated recently that Tinubu had plan B if APC primaries are manipulated against him.

Although, he noted that APC remains the primary platform Tinubu intends to actualize his dream of presiding over the affairs of the nation; other options including the SDP would be explored if the primaries come short of transparency and credibility.

It is too early to ask if Asiwaju would leave the APC for another party. He is a big factor in APC, a party he helped formed, financed and nurtured into what it is today. We are not unaware of recent developments and attempts to insult a man who has paid his dues in the political evolution of this country. But that is not important for now. What I can tell you is that our leader, like other contestants, is looking forward to a credible process that would lead to the emergence of our flag bearer. But if that process is compromised, I can tell you for free that we will encourage him to explore other options.

Yes, a lot has been said about SDP and Asiwaju. When we get to that bridge, we will cross it. SDP offered him a platform to become a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria years ago but for now, he is in APC and will remain there until circumstance dictates otherwise,” he said.

Tinubu is gunning for the sole ticket of the party alongside other formidable contestants such as Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Rotimi Amaechi, Ogbonayya Onu, Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello among others. In an interview with the media a few months ago, President Muhammadu Buhari had said that he would not reveal the identity of his preferred successor, lest he be eliminated.

Only recently APC chieftain and until recently a Presidential aspirant, Moses Ayom called on Babachir Lawal to withdraw his comment on Tinubu’s possible defection, labelling same as a threat to the Abdullahi Adamu-led National Working Committee, saying “right now, the NWC is the leadership of the APC and it should be given all kinds of support to succeed. The idea of indirectly threatening the NWC that Tinubu has another option if he is not given ticket should not arise at all. As a committed APC leader from the Middle-Belt, I call on Babachir to withdraw the comments and apologize to the party immediately.”

Why Machina Remains Most Suitable Senatorial Candidate For Yobe North

0

One of the finest persons I have been privilege to know and work with is Hon. Bashir Sheriff Machina, the man has a clean heart, he is completely incapable of malice, and in the face of all odds, he has a sunny view of life.

In addition to this his empathy for the people across all divides, loyalty, commitment, contributions to his Party, APC, popularity and above all acceptability.

Should we then throw the above qualities of commitment, contributions and loyalty to Party to the dustbin, thereby discourage would-loyal Party members? Certainly not, this style of politics without doubt cannot even be found in the record book of His Excellency, Gov. Mai Mala Buni.

Bashir Machina took the bull by the horns last week when he accepted the growing calls by his people to contest the senatorial seat to represent the good people of Yobe North in the upper chamber of the National Assembly.

For some of us who who are privileged to work closely with him, one can authoritatively predict a better future for our people irrespective of ethnicity, locality or even political party should Bashir Machina eventually emerge as the Senator representing Yobe North.

It is from the foregoing I wish to appeal to the conscience of our people, that providence has once again entrusted into your hands the authority to dictate who shall pilot the affairs of the most naturally endowed District in Yobe State.

Pastor Offers Scholarship To Deborah’s Siblings, Promises Parents Better Life

0

The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministries, Chibuzor Chinyere, has offered “automatic scholarships” to the seven siblings of slain Deborah Samuel.

Deborah, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, was stoned and burnt on the school campus last Thursday for allegedly blaspheming Prophet Muhammad.

Her killing had sparked outrage across the country with many calling for the swift prosecution of two suspects arrested in connection with the crime while some Muslim youths also demanded the release of the suspects last Saturday.

The protesters rioted, vandalised and burnt market stalls, churches and structures perceived to belong to Christians.

Governor Aminu Tambuwal subsequently imposed a curfew on the state to stem the violence that broke out.

Deborah’s mother, Aileri Emmanuel, on Sunday, had said that she would never send her remaining seven children to school because of the barbaric murder of her daughter.

Emmanuel amid tears said, “I have no demands; I don’t want anything but one thing I know is that my children will never go to school again.”

The deceased’s father, Garba Emmanuel, who is a security guard with the Niger State Water and Sanitation, also lamented that he used his whole savings to send his eldest child (Deborah) to school.

Reacting in a Facebook post on Monday, Chinyere promised Deborah’s parents jobs and a better life.

The cleric wrote, “I just watched a video clip where the parents of Deborah Samuel said they will not be sending their children to school again. God forbid.

“Anyone with their contacts should inform them immediately that I Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere the General Overseas of OPM Church is relocating them to Port Harcourt.

“They would be staying in one of the OPM free estates where they will never pay rent forever.

“All their children are given automatic scholarships in OPM Free schools.

“I will get the father a job and I also open a shop for the mother.

“Please get in touch with them immediately.”

Chinyere had earlier in March offered scholarships to two Nigerian security guards who were sacked after being seen dancing during work hours in a viral video.

The security guards, known as The Happy Boys, have since travelled out of the country for studies.
