Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has presented 17 brand-new vehicles to newly elected local government chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the state’s 17 local government areas.

The vehicles were handed over on behalf of the governor by the Deputy Governor, Idi Barde Gubana, during a ceremony attended by government officials, party executives, and other stakeholders.

Speaking at the event, Gubana said the gesture was intended to enhance the mobility of the party chairmen and enable them to effectively coordinate party activities and implement the policies and programmes of the ruling party at the grassroots.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the vehicles responsibly in the discharge of their duties and called on them to promote unity within the party by avoiding actions capable of creating division among supporters. The deputy governor also stressed the importance of adhering to the principles and guidelines of the APC while working closely with stakeholders across the state.

Meanwhile, the distribution of the vehicles comes at a time when concerns have been raised over challenges in the state’s education sector. Several public schools across Yobe are reportedly grappling with dilapidated classrooms, inadequate infrastructure, and a shortage of teachers, factors that have contributed to an unconducive learning environment in some communities.

When contacted, government officials said they were not immediately aware of the reported conditions in some schools but assured that the administration is committed to improving the education sector through ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure and strengthen the teaching workforce.

Earlier, the Yobe State APC Chairman, Muhammad Gadaka, commended party stakeholders for their cooperation during the congresses that produced the new local government executives. He congratulated the chairmen and urged them to reciprocate the gesture by strengthening the party’s structures and ensuring its continued success at the grassroots.

Gadaka also warned that the vehicles were strictly for official party use and must not be sold or diverted for personal purposes.

The ceremony was attended by several government officials and party leaders, including the Secretary to the State Government, the Head of the State Civil Service, and other prominent APC stakeholders in the state.
