Suspected internet fraudster arrested in Maiduguri

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a suspected internet fraudster, Vincent Markus, in Maiduguri.

Markus, a student at the University of Maiduguri, was taken into custody following an intelligence-led operation.

According to the EFCC, Markus allegedly specialized in hacking and other internet-related fraudulent activities, using various pseudonyms on social media platforms.

Items recovered from his possession include several vehicles, electronic devices, and other valuables.

The suspect is currently being held and questioned by the EFCC, with plans to charge him in court once investigations are complete.

The EFCC did not provide further details on the specific charges or evidence against Markus.

The arrest is part of the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to combat internet fraud and cybercrime in Nigeria.
