A 22-year-old housewife, Zainab Isa has been arrested by operatives of the Yobe State Police Command for allegedly stabbing her husband to death.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim made the disclosure in a statement he issued on Wednesday in the state capital, Damaturu.

According to the PPRO, the suspect stabbed her 25-year-old husband, Ibrahim Yahaya with a knife at Abbari ward following an argument.

He said that the suspect, after a preliminary investigation, confessed that she did not intend to kill her husband, but acted in self-defense.

The suspect alleged that the husband was beating and kicking her while she was still recuperating from a recent medical operation following childbirth.

“The command is saddened by the unfortunate actions of a couple that led to the death of a promising young man due to the consequences of an abusive marriage.

“On June 26, 2024, the C Divisional Police Headquarters received a complaint from a neighbour about the couple. The argument, which began around 9:00 am, escalated into a physical altercation.

“Zainab Isa used a knife to stab her husband in the chest. He died from the injury before the police arrived,” Abdulkarim stated.
