Following Monday’s attack in Fika LGA that claimed one life, destroyed 146 houses, and displaced 1,686 people, the Yobe State Government announced the immediate suspension of motorcycle use in four LGAs: Fika, Fune, Gujba, and Gulani. The ban, implemented in collaboration with security agencies, aims to curb crime and criminal activity.

This measure comes amid heightened security concerns after the attack, which reportedly involved gunmen on motorcycles. While details of the perpetrators remain unclear, the government hopes the motorcycle ban will hinder their movements and facilitate easier identification.

The impact of this ban on residents and essential services in the affected LGAs remains to be seen. Authorities have yet to disclose the duration of the suspension or if exemptions will be available for specific uses.
