Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan (APC, Borno Central) has expressed disappointment with Information Minister Mohammed Idris for allegedly dismissing Governor Babagana Zulum’s concerns about rising insecurity in the state.

Sen. Lawan urged the minister to focus on promoting President Bola Tinubu’s policies rather than politicizing the issue.

Recall, the governor had raised alarms about increased Boko Haram attacks, particularly after insurgents overran military posts in Wulgo, Sabon Gari, and other areas.

The senator described the minister’s response as “disrespectful and unhelpful.”

He accused Idris of neglecting his duties, citing past ministers like Lai Mohammed and Jerry Gana, who prioritized government messaging over disputes with state officials.

He also highlighted Governor Zulum’s support for security agencies, including donations of vehicles and housing.

The senator challenged the minister to visit Borno for a firsthand assessment before making further statements.

However, the ministry denied dismissing the governor’s comments, stating that the attributed statement was false.
